It seems that local fans will have to wait to see if Avril Lavigne’s “Best Damn Tour” lives up to its lofty title.
In a news item posted Sunday on her Web site (www.avrillavigne.com), the young pop star announced that she will postpone six dates on her North American trek due to acute laryngitis. The number includes Wednesday’s (May 7) gig at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. Prior to this announcement, Lavigne had cancelled shows in Phoenix and San Diego because of her condition.

“My sincerest apologies to all of my fans. My intention was to complete the rest of the tour but tonight (May 3) at sound check in Anaheim I realized this wasn’t possible,” Lavigne said in her statement. “Even though I have been resting my voice for days, when I tried to sing nothing came out.”
